Introducing Lyptus® Hardwood Plywood available now as PureBond® formaldehyde-free
hardwood plywood.
The collection we've created with Weyerhaeuser features twelve custom-composed veneer
faces arranged by color and available in rustic, clear and butcher block looks.
In long plank and short plank options.
All are produced "tight side out," which assures easy and consistent finishing,
free from the "barber pole" effect that can occur with book matched veneer.
These premium lumber-look designs were hand-selected to provide an additional assurance
of visual success. The natural grain characteristics are randomly distributed throughout
the panel faces — we call it "consistent inconsistency."
This enables components cut from one or more separate panels to harmoniously blend
together when mixed in a finished project. No more shop waste due to "forced"
matching of doors, for example. And an easier time down the road if replacements
or additions are required. In addition, traditional quarter sawn and plain sliced
Lyptus veneers are also available, to round out our collection.
But don't forget — what you can't see matters, too. This includes the soy-based,
formaldehyde-free PureBond technology we
use to make Lyptus hardwood plywood. It's a good idea in our mills, in your shop
and in your customers' interiors.
What you Won't Get With Our Panels:
- Avoid mismatched cabinetry. Our panels are sorted for visual uniformity
and ease of matching and blending.
- Avoid the "machine gun" look and other undesirable repeats.
We use a "Consistently Inconsistent" plank match for harmonious blending.
- Avoid the "barber pole" effect. Our panels are manufactured
with tight-side-out construction which ensures even finishing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Lyptus?
Lyptus is the trademarked name for the processing of a naturally occurring hybrid
of two eucalyptus species. These Urograndis trees are grown on managed plantations
in South America.
Lyptus veneer is available in both plain sliced and quarter sawn, offering a unique
look for any project. Lyptus plywood offers the warmth and beauty of a natural veneer
surface with a variety of core options. It is a high quality choice for many high-end
applications including cabinetry, furniture and store fixtures as it sands well
providing an excellent surface to accept oil and water-based finishes.
Lyptus lumber varies in color from red to light pink. The darker colors are similar
to hickory in density while the lighter colors are similar to birch and ash in density.
Lyptus lumber has good machining properties, glues and holds fasteners well, sands
easily and stains evenly with oil and water-based finishes.
What are the environmental attributes of Lyptus?
Lyptus veneer and lumber products come from non-genetically modified, plantation-grown
trees which grow quickly and may be harvested within 14-16 years of planting. Lyptus
veneer is now available in FSC® certified panel constructions.
What cores types are available?
Lyptus plywood is available in a variety of core options including veneer core,
MDF and particleboard. Veneer core hardwood plywood panels are manufactured with
PureBond formaldehyde-free technology and meet CARB Phase 2
emissions standards.
